{"id":753,"date":"2021-03-15T18:10:22","date_gmt":"2021-03-15T22:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/happier-at-home.mysites.io\/what-is-hospice-care\/"},"modified":"2021-03-15T18:10:22","modified_gmt":"2021-03-15T22:10:22","slug":"what-is-hospice-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/happierathome.com\/dev_staging\/what-is-hospice-care\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Hospice Care?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/sinclairstoryline.com\/resources\/embeds\/jw8-embed.html?client=googima&amp;file=https:\/\/content.uplynk.com\/7b30257e0ad74a96a99482a0a7c4dbd3.m3u8&amp;autostart=false\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hospice is a type of health care that focuses on an individual with a terminal illness.&nbsp; The goal of hospice care is to allow your loved one to live as well as possible for as long as possible, increasing their quality of life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When does hospice care begin?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In general, hospice care should be used when a person is expected to live about 6 months or less.&nbsp; Sometimes families or patient are resistant to starting hospice because they may feel as if they are \u201cgiving up\u201d.&nbsp; Good to know also that hospice is not a permanent choice.&nbsp;<br><br>Example: If your kidneys are failing, you may choose the hospice program rather than continuing with dialysis.&nbsp; You can always change your mind and stop hospice care and start back on treatments.&nbsp; Also, people may improve unexpectedly and discontinue the service with the option of returning in the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does hospice provide?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>24\/7 on-call Nurse &#8211;&nbsp; May only provide a couple of hours of care a day<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nurses\/Aides to assist with bathing\/dressing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medicine to ease pain<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social Worker and counseling for not only the patient, but also their loved ones&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can additional caregiver support be implemented?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support groups&nbsp;for family caregivers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional Caregivers:&nbsp;This allows family members to get out of the home for a block of time, or for them to even stay home and take care of themselves.&nbsp; This will provide family with a peace of mind of<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meal Calendar:&nbsp;organized by family\/friends- Families often neglect caring for themselves, not worrying about meals is a big help<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/foxrochester.com\/news\/good-day-rochester\/happier-at-home-what-is-hospice-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click to watch the video on foxrochester.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When does hospice care begin?
