{"id":794,"date":"2020-10-02T16:12:58","date_gmt":"2020-10-02T20:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/happier-at-home.mysites.io\/pandemics-impact-on-elder-care\/"},"modified":"2020-10-02T16:12:58","modified_gmt":"2020-10-02T20:12:58","slug":"pandemics-impact-on-elder-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/happierathome.com\/dev_staging\/pandemics-impact-on-elder-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Pandemic&#8217;s Impact on Elder Care"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/sinclairstoryline.com\/resources\/embeds\/jw8-embed.html?client=googima&amp;file=https:\/\/content.uplynk.com\/2b6b4a01cdc44ab8ba5a16e231595c32.m3u8&amp;autostart=false\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although two weeks ago, most assisted living and nursing homes in New York were allowed to resume limited visitations, they still come along with some very difficult choices within our community.&nbsp; When a loved needs additional care, families are faced with making the choice of placing them in a facility, knowing that there are currently drawbacks.&nbsp; Those drawbacks include: restrictions on visitation, risks of exposure as a result of the pandemic, and a risk of prohibited visitation if there is a resurgence of the COVID virus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There may not be a choice to delay placement in a skilled nursing facility, or the need for a rehabilitation stay after discharge from the hospital.&nbsp; However, for some, there may be options to arrange for some of the care that is needed at home.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assistance with focus on the following will serve as a framework for a care plan to help our loved ones remain home amid the pandemic:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Dementia Care Specialists<\/li><li>Home visits by physicians: Geriatricians, Podiatrists, etc.<\/li><li>Companion care\/ Home health care<\/li><li>Rehabilitation at home<\/li><li>Private duty nursing care<\/li><li>Delay elective surgeries<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/foxrochester.com\/news\/good-day-rochester\/happier-at-home-pandemics-impact-on-elder-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click to watch the video on foxrochester.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Many families are facing difficult decisions about elder care during the coronavirus pandemic.
